Meta connection issues

Troubleshoot problems connecting your Meta ad account to Campaiyn, including authorization errors and permission issues.

Meta connection issues

If you are having trouble connecting your Meta ad account to Campaiyn, this article covers the most common issues and how to resolve them.

"Authorization failed" or redirect error

This error appears when the Facebook OAuth flow does not complete successfully.

Common causes and fixes:

  • Pop-up blocker: Your browser blocked the Facebook login window. Disable your pop-up blocker for campaiyn.ai and try again.
  • Third-party cookies disabled: Some browser privacy settings block the OAuth redirect. Try connecting in a fresh browser window, or temporarily disable strict tracking protection.
  • Logged into the wrong Facebook account: Make sure you are logged into the Facebook account that has access to your Meta Business Manager. Log out of other Facebook accounts first if needed.
  • Browser extensions interfering: Ad blockers or privacy extensions (like uBlock, Privacy Badger) can interrupt the OAuth flow. Try in an incognito window with extensions disabled.

"No ad accounts found" after connecting

You connected successfully, but Campaiyn shows no ad accounts to select.

This usually means:

  • The Facebook account you authorized does not have access to any Meta ad accounts. Make sure you logged in with the account that has Business Manager access, not a personal account with no ad history.
  • You have ad accounts but they are under a different Business Manager. Check which Business Manager your accounts are in and make sure you are logged into the right Facebook profile.
  • Your role on the ad account is not high enough. You need at least Advertiser access (not just Analyst) to connect an account.

"Insufficient permissions" error

Campaiyn needs specific read permissions to analyze your account. If permissions were not granted during the authorization step, this error appears.

Fix:

  1. Go to Settings in Campaiyn
  2. Click Disconnect Meta Account
  3. Click Connect Meta Account again
  4. When the Facebook permission screen appears, make sure all requested permissions are allowed before clicking Continue
  5. Do not skip or decline any of the requested scopes

The connection drops after a few days

Meta access tokens expire and may also be invalidated by:

  • Changing your Facebook password
  • Enabling two-factor authentication on Facebook
  • Revoking app access from Meta Business Settings
  • The token naturally expiring (typically after 60 days for long-lived tokens)

Fix: Go to Settings and reconnect your Meta account. This generates a fresh access token.

Pro tip

If your connection drops regularly, check whether two-factor authentication changes or password resets are happening on the connected Facebook account. Any security change on the Facebook side can invalidate Campaiyn's access token.

Revoking access manually

If you want to disconnect Campaiyn from your Meta account entirely:

  1. In Campaiyn: go to Settings and click Disconnect Meta Account
  2. In Meta: go to Meta Business Suite > Settings > Business Integrations > find Campaiyn and click Remove

Both steps ensure access is fully revoked.
