How to verify your domain in Meta Business Suite

Domain verification tells Meta that your business owns the domain your ads link to. It is required to edit link previews on ads and is a prerequisite for certain ad features and pixel event configuration.

Why you need to verify your domain

  • You cannot edit the headline or description on link ads without a verified domain
  • Some pixel event prioritization features (required post-iOS 14) are only available on verified domains
  • Unverified domains may restrict your ad delivery options over time

Steps to verify

  1. Go to Meta Business Suite > Settings > Brand Safety > Domains
  2. Click Add and enter your root domain (e.g., yourstore.com -- not www.yourstore.com)
  3. Choose a verification method:
    • DNS TXT record (recommended) -- add a TXT record to your domain provider
    • HTML file upload -- upload a verification file to your web server
  4. For DNS verification: copy the TXT record value provided by Meta and add it to your domain's DNS settings at your registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.)
  5. DNS propagation can take up to 72 hours, though it is often complete within a few hours
  6. Return to the Domains section in Meta Business Suite and click Verify

Pro tip

If you are using Cloudflare for DNS, propagation is typically very fast -- sometimes under 5 minutes. Check the Cloudflare dashboard to confirm the TXT record has been added before clicking Verify.

Checking your DNS record

Before clicking Verify, you can check whether your DNS record has propagated using a tool like MXToolbox TXT Lookup or by running:

nslookup -type=TXT yourdomain.com

You should see the Meta verification string in the results.

Important

Only verify the root domain, not subdomains. If your store is on shop.yourbrand.com, you still need to verify yourbrand.com and ensure Meta can associate the subdomain with the verified root.

What happens after verification

Once verified, your domain will show a green checkmark in the Brand Safety section. You can then:

  • Edit link ad previews (headline, description, image)
  • Configure aggregated event measurement for iOS 14+ compatibility
  • Use your domain for pixel event prioritization

If Campaiyn's scan flags domain verification as an issue, completing this guide will resolve that finding on your next scan.
